“FREE NNAMDI KANU FOR PEACE, HEALING, AND UNITY IN THE SOUTH-EAST NIGERIA.”- DEPUTY SPEAKER
Benjamin Kalu, the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, has urged President Bola Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra who is currently in detention.
He made the plea during his speech at the House of Representatives Committee on South-East Development Commission’s first meeting, which was hosted on Wednesday at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja. Kalu praised Tinubu for his support and dedication to peace, development, and stability in the South-East, according to a statement released on Thursday by Udora Orizu, Special Assistant to the Deputy Speaker on Print Affairs.

He pointed out that the president has shown his affection for Southeast in a number of ways since taking office, including by quickly signing the South-East Development Commission Bill, which had been rejected by earlier Assemblies.”The people of the South-East would be eternally grateful to the President if the IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu was freed,” the Deputy Speaker added, urging the adoption of a political solution versus the legal method to free Nnamdi Kanu.
There won’t be any more justification for those who are using Nnamdi Kanu as a pretext to carry out all of these crimes in our neighbourhood. Anybody who accuses Nnamdi Kanu of being the cause of harm to the South-East’s citizens would thereafter be apprehended by the police and security forces.
