But that enthusiasm soon subsided as Amorim was unable to keep the ship steady. Sunday’s setback against Tottenham Hotspur marked the Red Devils’ 12th Premier League defeat of the year. The season in which they were demoted, 1973–74, was the last occasion they had that many losses in their first 25 games.

Due to this performance, there are now many doubts about Amorim’s capacity to guide the Manchester giants, and a Spanish publication has now raised doubts about his future at Old Trafford. Fichajes claims that United is already considering a “new replacement” in light of Amorim’s inability to establish a distinct character and consistently provide fruitful outcomes. Unless a “disaster occurs that forces drastic measures to be taken before time,” INEOS has opted to retain the 40-year-old at the helm until the end of the season.

Ahead of the summer transfer season, the United board is reportedly already starting to “evaluate possible alternatives” for their managerial post.
