According to Saharareporters, The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has Guobadia, 60, in “ICE custody,” and he is being held in Stewart Detention Centre in Lumpkin, Georgia. This comes after years of fruitless attempts to get U.S. citizenship, as evidenced by court documents that include several denials of naturalisation, identity fraud, and visa overstays.
He entered the country on a six-month visa in 1982, which marked the beginning of his immigration issues. He overstayed, and his citizenship application was rejected, resulting in a deportation order in 1985. He departed on his own volition but returned in 1986, overstaying this time. He was sued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) after his most recent denial in July 2022. Following several denials, he launched a civil lawsuit against senior USCIS officials in January 2024. The officials pointed to fraudulent conduct and prior criminal offences, such as identity fraud and bank fraud from the 1980s.
With investments in oil, gas, renewable energy, and hotels, he has established a prosperous commercial career in Atlanta in spite of these failures. He allegedly moved certain assets to Dubai in 2023, presumably as a result of worries over his immigration status. His detention and his divorce from Porsha Williams, star of Real Housewives of Atlanta, have sparked rumours. They started dating in April 2021, and following his widely reported divorce from Falynn Guobadia, they were married in 2022.
The timing of their brief affair drew criticism.
Guobadia has been married three times and has five children. Guobadia had three previous marriages and is a father to five children.
He thanked his children’s moms for helping him co-parent in a 2022 Instagram post. Speaking about his incarceration, Williams, who has a daughter from a past relationship, said, “It’s disheartening to see my estranged husband make choices that led to this outcome.”
His case brings to light issues with U.S. immigration law. He could now be deported to Nigeria or face a protracted court struggle. what do you think about Guobadia’s fate, Leave us a feedback.
